He has also published his translation of Fortune’s Prisoner: The Poems of Boethius’ Consolation of Philosophy (Anvil Press Poetry, 2007).
His non-fiction volume is Love in the Soul: The Story of the Christian Mystics (Boston, Shambhala, 2005).
His awards include an Eric Gregory Award (1986); a British National Poetry Award first prize, 1996; a Hawthornden Fellowship (1999); Society of Authors Award 1997; and the Michael Hartnett Award 2009.
He lives in West Cork.
