Katherine Duffy was born in Dundalk in 1962.
She writes poetry and fiction in both English and Irish.
Her poetry collections are The Erratic Behaviour of Tides (Dublin, Dedalus, 1999); and Sorrow’s Egg (Dedalus,
Her award-winning novel for young adults is Splanctha (Gallimh, Clól Iar-Chonnachta, 1998).
After spending many years as a librarian, she now works as a parliamentary translator in the Office of the Houses of the Oireachtas in Dublin.
