Colin Barrett was born in 1982 and grew up in County Mayo.
His first collection is Young Skins (Dublin, The Stinging Fly, 2013).

He was awarded the Penguin Ireland Prize in 2009, bursaries from the Arts Council in 2011 and 2013, and was shortlisted for Best Newcomer and Best Short Story categories of the Irish Book Awards, 2013.
